Real Feedback from
Malaysian Learners
These are the experiences of people who joined our programmes looking for a clearer, calmer way to understand investing concepts — and what they found when they did.
Back to HomeWhat Learners Have Shared
I came into this course not knowing what an ETF was or why people kept talking about compound interest. After four weeks, I feel like I have a proper map in my head. The concept maps were genuinely useful — I actually printed one out and kept it near my desk.
The workshop format suited me because I have too many questions to feel comfortable just watching videos alone. Ahmad gave clear answers and was always upfront about what is educational content versus what would be actual advice. That distinction was more important than I expected.
Ten weeks sounds long but I was glad of the pace. There was a lot to absorb and having time between modules helped. The reading library was a highlight — I had been struggling to find things worth reading online that were not trying to sell me something at the same time.
Honestly I signed up expecting dry lectures but the content was written in a way that felt more like reading a well-organised reference book than sitting through a class. The terms index alone has come in handy several times when I have been reading financial news.
The group was small enough that everyone actually participated. I appreciated that the facilitator never steered anyone toward a specific product or strategy. Everything was kept conceptual and that made it easier to think independently after the sessions ended. Worth the fee for the clarity it brought.
I had tried to learn about investing from online videos before but kept ending up on channels that were really just promoting specific platforms. Lumivest felt completely different. Everything pointed back to what the concept means, not what to buy. I am much more comfortable now reading through official sources on my own.

From Confused by Terminology to Confident Reader
Beginners Course · 4 weeks · Kuala LumpurA 34-year-old teacher from KL wanted to begin saving beyond the EPF but felt completely lost when reading even basic financial articles. Terms like "yield," "liquidity," and "portfolio allocation" stopped her from engaging with any material.
She completed the Beginners Course over five weeks at her own pace, using the terms index as a reference while reading. The concept maps helped her see that asset categories she had always assumed were complicated were actually distinguishable by a few clear characteristics.
She now reads investor education content published by the Securities Commission with confidence. She described the change as moving from "feeling like I needed a translator" to "understanding the basic vocabulary well enough to know what questions to ask."
"I still have a lot to learn, but I no longer feel like I am locked out of the conversation."
A Group Learner Who Needed Structure and Discussion
Foundations Workshop · 5 sessions · Petaling JayaA 41-year-old accountant had solid numeracy skills but felt uncertain about investment concepts beyond fixed deposits. He had tried self-study resources but found that without discussion he could not tell whether he had actually understood something or just recognised the words.
The Foundations Workshop gave him the structured discussion environment he needed. Each session built on the previous one, and the facilitator's ability to answer conceptual questions — and clearly flag what went beyond educational scope — helped him work through the distinctions he had been uncertain about.
He felt more capable of reading product disclosure documents independently after the workshop — not because the workshop told him what to choose, but because he now understood enough terminology to process what documents were actually saying.
"The worksheets helped me check what I had actually absorbed versus what I thought I understood."
